BROOKSVILLE FOLKTALES
The subject for all submissions should be fictional Brooksville tales. Maybe it is a made-up version of the town. Perhaps an urban legend. Do unknown cryptids lurk just beyond the eyes of the residents? How about a fictional account of a historic event? Are ghosts lurking on the city streets? The greatest limitations are the ones you put on your creativity and some of the following rules.
ENTRY RULES
Stories must be set in a fictional Brooksville
Any author whose story veers too close in accuracy to actual events may be asked to change character names or events.
All entries should utilize proper grammar. NO TEXTING LINGO.
All submissions should be written in English.
Short stories containing language that is vulgar, offensive, or inappropriate will not be accepted. The final ruling is at the sole discretion of the committee of judges.
Genre: Any genre is acceptable providing material adheres to the above content guidelines. No risqué, adult, or vulgar content will be accepted.

The contest is open to anyone aged eleven (11) and up
The author's name and address will be verified.
Only one short story per person may be submitted.
Short story submissions must be uploaded via a PDF using the form found on this page and must be received by the webmaster no later than December 15, 2024.
Short stories should be typed in 12pt, Times New Roman, or Arial font.

All entries must be the original work of the submitter. Any short story containing plagiarized material will be disqualified. Absolutely no AI generated material will be accepted.

PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in both Youth (age 11-17) and Adult categories.
PUBLICATION
All contestants will be allowed to be featured in a short story anthology. There is no purchase required to be included in this anthology. There will be no royalties paid to contributors of anthologies. Every author will receive one free copy of the published anthology. Additional copies will be available for purchase. By submitting a short story to our contest, you accept that your short story will appear online and in print. We reserve the right to not publish a short story for any reason.
